Continuous Improvement Specialist

Department: Operations
Location: Baltimore, MD

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

As a Continuous Improvement Specialist, you will be responsible for consistently improving the overall efficiency and functioning of Dejana end to end Operations. This includes implementing innovative solutions to address identified problems/constraints, developing and implementing improvement plans, aiding employees by analyzing data. The CI Specialist is a multi-site role that is responsible for the execution and support of the continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and the elimination of waste and inefficiency inherent in our processes.

  • Act as a change agent in the organization by driving change and implementing continuous improvement processes, while utilizing and improving existing methodologies:
    • Lean and Six Sigma Tools
    • Change Management
    • Project Management
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects of medium to high complexity to ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
  • Utilize various Root Cause and Problem-Solving methodologies to ensure identification and elimination of problems.
  • Conduct robust process analysis to identify and resolve risks and constraints in the manufacturing/installation value streams.
  • Assist and/or lead Kaizen events and other continuous improvement projects involving production, facilities layout, inventory control, quality, and transactional processes.
  • Assist in developing and Implementing S.O.P.’s and provide training for shop floor associates.
  • Provide exceptional internal customer service.
  • Use all required PPE and always follow established safety procedures.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • B.A. or B.S. in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Business preferred.
  • Lean and or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Experience in truck equipment or automotive industry inventory control, parts sales and service, with exposure to shop floor processes preferred.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Lean Training Required, Six Sigma Training Preferred.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production needs.
  • A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Organizational, detailed, and follow-up skills.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor others.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Moderate experience using Windows based programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • This job alternates between an office and shop floor.
  • Exposure to moving equipment, fumes, loud noise, and fluctuating temperatures while on the shop floor.
  • Fast paced continuously changing environment.
  • Approximately 25% - 50% travel required (domestic). Will mostly be in the Northeast US regions.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office and manufacturing floor setting with exposure to varying sound and temperature levels as well as exposure to dust and odors.
  • Use of PPE including safety glasses, safety shoes and hearing protection is required.

COMPENSATION:

  • Hourly rates ranging from $67,000.00 - $103,000.00.
